bangkok and sydney in rather incoherent terms

i haven't been here for so long! the last time i blogged was during exams and now the hols are almost over omg it's so scary how time flies. so i thought maybe i'd blog abit before i go back to school.

actually, come to think of it, i can quite honestly say that these 3 months were probably the best hols i ever had. haha. first there was that blissful period of total slacking. then there was the obligatory family trip to malaysia. then there was css foc. and law camp. and law fcg retreat. then there was bangkok with some of the most amazing people i've ever spent time with. then there was sydney with even more amazing people and incredible experiences. then there's rag too. which, for all the days spent in school and lousy summit food, is quite honestly one of the most memorable experiences of one's lifetime. yeah it's been a good holiday. haha.

ok yes i'm v loser that was my first time ever to bangkok hahaha but it was really a v awesome trip! mostly cos of the company and obviously the shopping too haha. 27 people on trip is honestly pretty amazing and that just goes to show that BENSON is amazing at organising things haha please organise another one for decembr ok! =P we ate alot, we shopped alot, we drank alot and saw each other in various states of inebriation, especially yonghui hahaha. the only dark cloud on this trip was the unfortunate food poisoning that hit ashwin shwings and alvin. DON'T EAT WANTON MEE IN BANGKOK. haha. seriously though, it was a damn good trip. i loved rooming with MARIAN and CHAY, even though we were perpetually late and always had BENSON, XIAOHUI and ALVIN waiting for us (whoops). skybar was amazingly beautiful. cabbages and condoms was a hilarious experience, what with the denouncing of SUEFAYE as a mudblood teochew, and BRYAN's declaration that he was "very proud of his heritage", only to reveal that he couldn't even speak the dialect. drinking with BEN, YONGHUI, DENISE, COLLEEN, KENNETH, JIEXUAN, SUEF and BRYAN was super funny, what with bryan's golden rule of "if we clink, we must drink". which left yonghui in quite a state. haha. "guys, the FACT OF THE MATTER is, i am SOBER enough to know that i am DRUNK."

and i have no idea why i capitalised everyone's names. but nevermind. haha. i was bored one night and started looking through all the facebook photos, and i was suddenly hit with a wave of nostalgia for that trip. can you call it nostalgia when it was actually really recent? anw i really miss it, because who knows when i'll be able to go on another trip with 27 friends, who even though are people i only met about a year ago, are still people i'm comfortable enough to talk to and laugh with and act stupid with. loves! (=

sydney
sydney was honestly v amazing. not just in terms of fun, although that definitely wasn't lacking, but in terms of a spiritual experience too. it's not something that i can put into words easily - it was just as fun as bangkok, but in a totally different way. what with our rectangle of trust, our crazy junkfood suppers, our 38-egg dinners, the insane walk up the slope every morning, the krispy kremes breakfasts, the baby-hunting, the incessant phototaking and overall madness of me, marianne, marian, cheryl and samanna (and sometimes the rest too!) our wine tour was incredibly fun too haha what with SHANE, and our mad singing, and the supertasty wines, and the gorgeous lake at sunset, and the wild kangaroos, and our spontaneous stop along the road to simply gaze up at the stars. it was obviously an unforgettable trip. the 5 days of wyd activities were incredible too. seeing people from SERIOUSLY all over the world coming together, and even with different languages, still being able to communicate and participate just as fully in everything, was something that i don't think i'll ever get to experience again. seeing the Pope was obviously a highlight, as was sleeping overnight in the freezing cold at randwick with about 400,000 other people.

ok you know what i've lost my ability to write. or maybe i never had it. haha. i just cannot translate that experience into words now. mmm. but i -do- know for sure that wydsyd08 is definitely one of the most unforgettable things i'll ever do in my life. and that God really is somewhere out there with us. (=

ok i don't feel like blogging anymore. rag is on FRIDAY. somehow, someway, we will pull this off. =D have faith! haha
